Duitsland werd eerder deze week op het WK in de Verenigde Staten, Canada en Mexico roemloos uitgeschakeld in de zestiende finales. In Boston verloor de Mannschaft na strafschoppen van Paraguay.


Donderdag vond op de Duitse voetbalbond in Frankfurt am Main een crisisvergadering plaats met als onderwerp de positie van de 38-jarige Nagelsmann. Die had bij de DFB nog een contract tot 2028.
