Marathon Kaapstad wordt eerste major op Afrikaanse bodem

Er zijn nu acht majors op de 42,195 kilometer, die van Kaapstad is de eerste op Afrikaanse bodem. De ander majors worden in Berlijn, Londen, Boston, Chicago, New York, Sydney en Tokio gelopen.


Vorige maand won de Ethiopïer Mohamed Esa in Kaapstad in 2u04:55, hij liep zo de snelste marathon in de geschiedenis op het Afrikaanse continent. De volgende editie vindt op 23 mei 2027 plaats.
