Voor de 29-jarige Ennis, voormalig IBF-titelhouder bij de welters, was het de 36e profzege (32 KO's).


De 23-jarige Zayas leed zijn eerste nederlaag in 24 kampen (13 KO's). Hij won de vacante WBO-titel in juli 2025 door in New York op punten de Mexicaan Jorge Garcia Perez te verslaan.
